Once again, it has been quite a while since my last post which means playing catch up, and trying to remember all the cute little things that Colton has been up to. Maybe one day I'll get it together...hopefully
February 28 was an eventful day for us. It seemed like we drove all over Utah that day. In the morning we went to Fillmore for Drew's baptism. It was nice to see the Darger family, and was good to be there for the baptism. They put together a nice little program for Drew, complete with a musical number by Drew herself playing the violin. Then they had put together a video spotlight for her. It was really fun to watch and to see her cute pictures. Then we went to watch the baptism. As we were waiting for her to enter the font, Colton got a little curious and started to make his way to the font. Robert went after him, but Colton was determined to get a closer look. He really took off and went cruising toward the font. He just about fell in there, but Robert grabbed him at the last second. Everybody gasped, and a few people joked about how he had to wait a few more years. It was a close call for sure, nearly gave me a heart attack.
Anyway after the baptism we had to rush off because we wanted to make it back to Provo for the BYU/Utah basketball game. We met up with the Whetstone and Jones fam. Colton really was excited and having a blast at the first part of the game, but that enthusiasm didn't last long. Like the football games we were outside trying to keep him entertained long enough to let Robert enjoy the rest of it. Maybe in a few years he will be into sports. (Right now it looks like he might be pretty good at boxing)

March came and we finally saw Colton take his first steps. It was on March 13, I was taking a break from making birthday cakes for Hunter and Collin.(didn't get any pictures of the cakes, if anyone has them, please email.) We were playing in his bedroom, and all of a sudden, he just got up and started walking across his room. After that he would walk a little more each day, but still preferred crawling. About a week later we had Stake Conference on the 22nd, and I was out in the hall holding him trying to settle him down. A couple of older boys walked past us, and Colton reached out to them to play tag (one of our favorite past times these days.) Of course they kept walking, so Colton got down and started walking toward them trying to catch up. He walked half way around the church just trying to get to them. Pretty soon they were out of sight, but Colton kept on walking. I felt a little bad when I picked him up and turned him around so that he didn't walk back into the meeting. He went through all that hard work for nothing, but I was sure impressed, He hadn't walked that far or for so long before. But all the hard work paid off because now he is a walking machine, as you can see.
Then we get to April. That started off with a bang, literally. On Friday the 3rd, Colton was walking to get his ball, when he lost his footing and went down, hard! He didn't have time to catch himself or even put his arms out to break his fall, and he face-planted it. Luckily he was in his bedroom where it has carpet, but it still caused some damage. I was sitting across the room when it all happened. It was awful to watch and sounded worse. I heard a crack when he hit the floor, and my first reaction was thinking that he busted up his nose. When I went over there to help him, his mouth was bleeding. I got him a cold rag to put in his mouth, and as I was trying to see just where the bleeding was coming from, I saw something on his tongue. So I laid him down to try to get a better look, and that is when I saw that he had broke his tooth. Unfortunately I could not get his tooth out of his mouth before he swallowed it. I know it was pretty traumatic for him, but it was pretty traumatic for me as well. I was so upset, I had to call Kelli for help in finding a pediatric dentist. Once I had a few names I started calling, but they were all closed. I guess they don't work on Fridays. We finally found one in Lehi who said that he would come in to take a look at it. It turns out that even though it was a big chip, it doesn't look like there is root damage, and they didn't need to pull it. However we have to make a decision here pretty soon. We can either take him to a hospital to put him under to have it worked on, wait a couple years until he is old enough to have work done without putting him under, or do nothing and hope it does not decay. Lots of fun, I know. We are still thinking about our options.
On a more upbeat note, Colton has had some funny moments too. A couple of weeks ago we were at Toys R Us and I pulled down one of those corn popper toys. Well he had to try it out and pretty soon he was walking around the whole store with that noisy little thing pop-pop-popping all the while. He absolutely loved it, so of course I had to get it for him. Now he goes around the house "vacuuming" here and there. He is such a good little helper. He also loves to take paper towels and wash down chairs, floors, couches, just abut anything that he thinks need to be dusted. He also helps with breakfast, lunch and dinner. He will take out bowls and spoons from the cupboards and pretend to mix things up. And his specialty is helping me load and unload the dishwasher. He likes to take the dishes out and hide them. He is becoming quite the little homemaker.

The other day we were doing some shopping, it had been a long day, so I bought him one of those big bouncy balls to play with when we got home. When we got to the car I set it next to him. Well he got upset because of course he wanted to hold it. So i gave it to him, but I thought for sure he would throw it, because it was so big, he couldn't see anything. I couldn't believe that he held that ball in his lap the entire 20 minute car ride home. It gave me quite a chuckle.(Just in case it is hard to see, this is him in his car seat holding the ball, It was practically pinning him to his seat.)

Then of course there is Easter. I have been really excited because I thought that this year Colton might be at the age that he is starting to get into things a little more. We decided to have Easter on Saturday, so Friday we took him to see the Easter Bunny. Colton sat on his lap, stared at him for a minute, then looked at me and cried. Maybe next year he'll be more enthused. Luckily he was more excited about getting ready for the Easter Bunny to come. That night we colored some eggs and he absolutely loved it. And the next morning we had an Easter egg hunt, and he really loved that. It was fun to see him running around the living room, finding the eggs and bringing them to us to show us what he had found. Later that day we had the 2nd annual Easter Weekend family bowling event. Of course it was fun to see everybody, and all the great bowlers. I think everyone had a great time! Then on Sunday we went over to mom's for dinner and Kelli's birthday. There was an Easter egg hunt there too. This time it was outside. There were special eggs and goody bags for all the kids. I think Colton was so happy to be outside, that he didn't really grasp the whole hunting for egg thing, but he had a good time anyway.

Well, I think that catches us up. Robert is keeping busy with work, and is anxious to start golfing now that the weather is starting to cooperate. And I am having a good time spending my days with Colton, and baking some cakes here and there.

So many cute things. I love the pictures of Colton's mouth with the chipped tooth. Please don't post any more pictures of me--I always have a dumb face on!!!
